Hi Pythonistas.
I'd like to invite you to come and join us next Monday at our bi-monthly
Meetup.
Here is what you will expect:
*LIGHTNING TALKS*
*– Starting Django Projects: the DRY way* Florian Demmer (Freelancer,
floriandemmer.com)
Stop wasting your time by copy/pasting configuration snippets from previous
projects, every time you start a new Django Project. “manage.py
startproject” can be easily customized and avoid doing this work over and
over again.
Learn how to set this feature up and get you a nice starting point for your
own customizations.
*– Updating Content using Long Polling* Clemens Pleban (working at
chatgrape.com)
Clemens will present a little demo on how to use long polling to receive
live events from a Django server. He and his team at chatgrape developed a
long polling alternative to websockets – when websockets are not an option.
*– Wagtail CMS: Features* Benedikt Breinbauer (working at nousguide.com)
Clients love CMSs. Django is not very strong in this area traditionally –
leaving room for Typo3, Wordpress, Drupal and many others. Yet there is
another potential star rising among Django CMS: Wagtail.
See some handy features of Wagtail and where you should prefer Wagtail over
Django CMS. Hear about some of Benedikt’s lessons learned, while developing
a new site with Wagtail.
*– Wagtail CMS: Content Editing* Stephan Pötschner (Freelancer,
stephan-poetschner.at)
WYSIWYG editors are at the core of every CMS solutions. But most
live-editing features – while looking fancy and nice at first glance – fail
to deliver the ease of editing promised.
Find out, how Wagtail solves content editing with a simple text-editor and
introducing a Django Field named “StreamField” to make pages richer in
content.
Before and after the talks join the open discussion and have some drinks...
*Monday, January 25th, 19:00*Sektor 5
